Wohler's Hall Portico Restoration
Originally constructed in 1910, Wohler's Hall was the first school building of the Illinois Youth Campus site and designed by Holabird & Roche Architects, the same firm which designed the Chicago Board of Trade Building and Soldier Field. The campus closed in 2012 and was purchased by the Park Ridge Park district in 2016 with Wohler's Hall serving as the new administration building. What began as a simple repair and tuckpointing project, escalated into a more intense restoration when a portion of the deteriorated portico collapsed during roof demolition shattering several of the original stone pieces. We engaged stone expert Galloy & Van Etten to recreate all of the damaged pieces and restored the portico to original condition.
